Overview

Audio sources are what is captured when you record a loop In the standalone app. An audio source can be an external input such as the device's microphone, an AUv3 hosted in Loopy Pro, or even the output of a color. In the AUv3 app the input can be the host's audio input or a color.

Audio Sources Screen

To reach the Audio Sources settings, from the loop view, tap the pen icon at the top right to get to the editing screen, then the microphone at the bottom right.

External Input

New projects have a default external input by default. In standalone this will be the device's microphone, or an external interface if attached. In the AUv3 this will be the host's input (the host manages the routing of internal or external audio to the plugin). There are settings for: - Enable / disable using the switch on the right hand side. - If applicable there will be an input sub-selection. This may be the available microphones on an iOS device, inputs on an interface, or right/left channels of a stereo host input to the AUv3. - Input gain (volume) - Visibility of the source at the bottom of the main screen (“eye” icon) - Monitoring on/off (“headphone” icon) - Input on/off (“speaker”) icon - Targets (see below)

Below these will be the Add Audio Source button.

Echo Cancellation

Microphone inputs will have Echo Cancellation available under targets. If switched on, the Calibrate button will be enabled. This will play a series of sounds to calibrate this function. WARNING: these can be *loud* and your cats will curse you roundly!

AUv3 Audio Sources

The standalone version can host AUv3 instruments as audio sources. Thes are added with the Add Audio Source button at the bottom of the Audio Sources list, which will bring up a list of the available audio units. Once an audio unit is selected there will be settings for: - Gain (volume) - Visibility in the main screen (“eye” icon) - Monitoring on/off (“speaker” icon) - Targets (see below)

Colors as Audio Sources

Colors can be audio sources. For instance, blue tracks or one-shots can be used to send audio to tracks of orange tracks. To add a color as an audio source tap the Add Audio Source and scroll to the bottom of the AUv3 list, then select a color. Colors have the same settings for gain, visibility, and monitoring as AUv3 sources (see above). Visibility for colors in the bottom bar of the looping screen defaults to off. Target colors default to off as well.

Targets

Audio routing in Loopy Pro is managed through targets. Below each audio source is a row of buttons for the available targets. Audio sources can limited to certain color tracks by toggling on/off here.
